This is the arm of the chair. I learned how to make awesome miniature chairs from Darkest Raven Designs and Bentley House Minis. Both have excellent tutorials on how to make chairs, so I followed along and adjusted the process to make mine overstuffed.
Here are all the components. I’ve used layers of quilt batting to make everything overstuffed. I’ve also applied gesso the pieces to prepare them to be painted. That made the surfaces much smoother and prevented the cloth from absorbing the paint.
Now all the parts have been painted. I used the edge of a hard piece of plastic to make the stripes by painting the edge with the darker purple color and stamping it where I wanted a stripe to be. Then I went back over the stripe to make it more defined. This kept them fairly straight and even. It was about this time I remembered there should also be a pillow. I used a quarter for the backing of it, and just like the chair parts, I over-stuffed it, applied gesso, and painted it.
Once everything was dry, I hot-glued the pieces together, and the trim is polymer clay.
